Ninja Quick Tip ~ Blog commenting

When commenting on someone else's blog, instead of putting your name add your keyword phrase. This gives you a link back to your site with your keyword phrase as the anchor text.

Social Bookmarking and how it contributes to search engine rankings

Had a customer submit a question the other day about social bookmarking. She had heard about it's effects on SEO and had no clue what it was or how to do it. So here it is, rather short and sweet and to the point.

Social Bookmarking Communities

Social bookmarking is a term used alot these days. What is it? It is basically a way of sharing your favorite websites (in the form of links) with anyone you choose. Digg , Stumbleupon , and Delicious  are three of the top ranking social bookmarking sites. There are literally hundreds of these sites out there with more popping up every day. I'd start with the highest ranking ones first. Most of the others are spammy and not worth the time it would take to create an account.

All you do is create a free acount then follow the steps for each to add your favorite sites. When you add a site, it creates a link with a screen shot or thumbnail. These are high ranking do follow links. You also get the added benefit of search engine spiders finding your site more frequently since they scan the major sites daily.

There is software out there you can buy which will store all your account information for the top websites to make bookmarking new pages easier. Just be careful and do your homework. Not all of them are created equal, and some just stink and have no refund policy.

As always, comments are welcome. If you have your own question you'd like to ask a ninja, please submit it here .
